Collaborations

My collaborations with clients, their architects and designers reflect my process as a glass artist: first soaking in the spaces and listening to client’s needs then allowing my intuitive mind to offer guidance for the commission.

For over two decades glass has captivated my imagination. Breath imprints blown glass forms with a magical radiance, a vital metaphor in my work.

Trained as a printmaker at Rhode Island School of Design, I found my voice within glass through experimentation. Intuition has been my compass in “the Carrie laboratory”. Not computer generated, my energy and physical interaction with the material is what matters.

Just me in my stillness, I listen to the material -its interplay of light and color, pattern and form -until the work becomes a clear channel. A collaboration is a conversation that brings out the best in everyone!

Architectural Collaborations

When lighting designer Josh Feinstein and architect Colin Flavin asked me to collaborate I never imagined how it would come to life. The concept was to create a canopy of light formed by 10” patterned orbs floating within 30” clear spheres.

The moment I entered the space and met with the clients I envisioned a canopy of twilight-hued branches. The clients, the architect and lighting designer gave me the creative freedom to follow my intuition. The result is a stunning installation that harmonizes my voice and aesthetic with the clients.

Designer Collaborations

With nothing but total admiration for my friend, interior designer Dee Elms I am in awe of her ability to create a poetic interior.

My collaboration with Dee Elms on the Scandinavian Project a calming white-on-white thistle pendant a perfect entry point for a Victorian house near my studio. View The Scandinavian Project as televised on PBS This Old House / and through the incomparable lens of Michael J. Lee.

Illuminate your home!

Without original art and handcrafted works, a home feels like a show house, not a reflection of the homeowners unique style.
